All post turbo, since I leveled out the oil to about 2/3 topping in the oil view window - this because I wanted to make sure I did not again get an oil light, on for just a flash, at high RPM speed/acceleration, like had happend a few times.
I first tried extending the oil crank hose up to the front of the bike, all up hill, with a filter on top, ending at the left air box intake ducting then removed. Any where near the filter became covered in oil and made a big mess, and enough to even start messing the outside of the bike.
I then removed the crank pick up hose from inside the oil pan, rerouted the extended external crank hose down and under the bike, so it's end is under the oil pan, at it's rear. I put a filter on that, later tried a piece of spounge, but those become saturated too quickly, so it is now open to the air.
I'm guessing I did a filter change 1 K miles ago, and when I did that I continued to fill the oil level hiigher, to allow for this blow out. So far I have had to top off once... I topped off this last time to 1/2 way in the window, from just above the lower line level in the window.
My guess that is about 4, maybe 6 oz of oil out the tube in about 1K miles, and the topping off to mid level, from the lower line level. When I get to it, I am going to extend that hose on the underside of the extended swing arm, as far back as I can.
I'm hoping that by keeping the oil level a bit lower, I won't have as much blowing out (initially). At idle you can slowly see oil fumes gather around the bike. I had thought about a catch canister to more accurately keep track of the amount of oil. Nah, I'll just refill it as needed until or unless that gets excessive.
Still seems a lot. I have no idea what oil the engine is burning up of that 4-6 oz. Before the turbo I wasn't burning any oil that I could tell, in oil changes every 1500 miles.
Bad, your question is a good one. Initially I was thinking I was having some type of problem, but the bike seems to run great, smooth... and this oil issue was only post turbo. Installing the turbo, I noted the inside of the air box very clean.
So the crank case is gettin additional pressure, is my guess, leaking from the ?
I've been using my eye to watch the amount that puddles on my oil mat below the bike after each ride. When the bike is topped of 2/3 high, I'll have maybe 1/2 teaspoon that will drip out after the bike is turned off immediately after the ride. Since lowering the level to 1/2 window, I get maybe 5-10 drops.
